  • Mumbai expects a long Rainy Week as Monsoon 2020 Approaches

    India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the monsoon is about to approach the south Konkan region in the next two days. Many areas of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad could enjoy the onset of monsoon with rain and thundershowers from Wednesday to Friday. IMD said in a statement, Conditions are becoming favourable for the further onset of monsoon into some parts of Konkan in next two days.”

  • Assam Plans to Set up 100 Farmers’ Producers Company

    Assam has planned to set up 100 Farmers’ Producers Company with the aim to ramp up agricultural production, collection and to ensure linkage with the national as well as international markets. Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the working of agriculture department city and asked the Assam Seeds Corporation Limited to produce the seeds needed by the farmers in the state itself.

     

  • Delhi likely to reach 5.5 lakh Corona Cases by July 31, Says AAP Govt

    The Delhi government anticipates that the state could have 5.5 lakh coronavirus cases by July 31. The anticipation is based on the current doubling rate of the infection, as told by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. He informed that the demand for hospital beds is increasing a day after the cancellation of the state government’s decision by the Lieutenant Governor to reserve beds for residents. COVID-19 cases are doubling every 12-13 days in Delhi, said Mr Sisodia after a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and top central officials.

  • Hubballi to Get World's Longest Railway Platform  

    In Karnataka, the Hubballi railway station is all set to get the world’s longest platform. It will measure a whopping 1,400 metres in length and 10 metres in width. It will be unseating the Gorakhpur Railway Station, measuring 1,366 metres in length, by 34 around metres. It is to be noted that the renovated platform at Gorakhpur Railway Station has officially became the world's longest in the 2013. Earlier, it was Kharagpur in the West Bengal with the longest platform of 1072 metres. 

  • British oil giant BP to cut 15% of its Workforce 

    British oil giant, BP will cut about 15 percent of its workforce due to coronavirus crisis. It is a part of Chief Executive Bernard Looney's plan to shift the oil & gas major to renewable energy. Looney told employees in a global online call that the company will cut 10,000 jobs from the present 70,100. He stated, "We will now begin a process that will see close to 10,000 people leaving BP, most by the end of this year."  

  • Madhya Pradesh takes over Punjab in Wheat Procurement

    Madhya Pradesh takes over Punjab in procurement of wheat for 2020-21 rabi season. MP has procured 127 lakh tonne or 33% of the total procured wheat by all the states in India. More than 14.19 lakh farmers received direct cash that was transferred in their bank accounts by the state government, according to a state government press release. An amount of Rs 20,253 crore was deposited in the bank accounts of farmers.

     

     

  • Elections to Seven Karnataka Legislative Council Seats to be Held on 29 June

    Elections to 7 seats of Karnataka Legislative Council would be held on 29th June, according to latest reports. The 7 seats are falling vacant on 30 June, as per Election Commission statement. The members of Karnataka Legislative Assembly will vote on 29th June to elect the 7 new MLCs. The Commission has asked the Karnataka Chief Secretary to depute a senior official to ensure that the guidelines regarding Coronavirus containment measures are complied with during the polls.
