  • Farmers' protest enters 14th day, their leaders to meet at noon

    Farmers' protest on Delhi's borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh entered 14th day on Wednesday even as farmer leaders will meet on the Singhu border at noon to discuss government's response to their demands as well as the future course of action.

    The development comes in the wake of postponement of the sixth round of talks between farmer leaders and the government slated to be held on Wednesday and a meeting of representatives of several farmer organisations with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi a day earlier.

  • Museum for Syed Ahmad Khan in Delhi

    Pictures and historical records showcasing the life and works of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, founder of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and his contribution to educational and social reforms, as well as, description of various stages of the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental (MAO) College to the establishment of AMU in 1920 and several other artefacts will be prominently displayed at a New Delhi-based museum.


  • Yogi to inaugurate 2 sulphur-free sugar plants

    Uttar Pradesh is set to begin production of sulphur-less or sulphur-free sugar in the state when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurates two plants in Basti and Gorakhpur sugar mills on Wednesday.

    With the first-of-its-kind facility in the state, the production of sulphur-less sugar will also facilitate timely payments to the sugarcane farmers.

    The state government, from its resources, had financed the revival of both these defunct sugar mills and later also financed the installation of the plant and machinery of the sulphur plant.

  • Snow on hills, rains lash plains in J&K

    Moderate to heavy snow and rain lashed Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday as the weather office forecast improvement from Thursday onwards. Fresh snowfall occurred during the night at the Zojila Pass, Pir Ki Gali, Bannihal sector, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Gulmarg during the night.

    Srinagar-Leh highway and the Mughal Road are closed for traffic. Authorities have advised travellers to avoid travel on the Srinagar-Jammu highway because of adverse weather advisory.

  • Huge response to Bharat bandh in Karnataka towns, villages

    The day-long Bharat bandh evoked huge response in towns and villages across Karnataka on Tuesday, as thousands of farmers staged massive rallies and demonstrations against the 3 farm laws the Centre enacted recently and called for their withdrawal immediately.

    The response to the shutdown call was, however, mixed in cities, as normal life was partially disrupted, with markets and APMC yards remaining shut-in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Shivamogga, Raichur, Ballari and Bidar.

  • PM Modi to address International Bharati Festival, 2020 on December 11

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the International Bharati Festival, 2020 on December 11, 2020, at 04:30 PM via video conferencing. This year the festival is being organised in virtual mode and will see the participation of several national and international poets and artists. The festival is being organised by Vanavil Cultural Centre to celebrate the 138th birth anniversary of Mahakavi Subramanya Bharati.
