  • Locusts Swarms Damage crops in Rajasthan’s Dholpur District

    On Monday, locust swarms attacked Sarmathura area of Dholpur district in Rajasthan, creating fear among farmers.

    A spokesperson of the state's agriculture department told that "A group of 10 to 15 locust swarms were seen in the area earlier also. This time, they entered again through Madhya Pradesh. From here, the locusts moved to neighboring areas. At one point of time, we were getting information about these insects from 7-8 villages simultaneously".

  • Captain Vikram Batra: Remembering the Kargil War Hero on his 21st Death Anniversary

    Today is the 21st death anniversary of Captain Vikram Batra, the Kargil War hero. Captain Vikram sacrificed his life while fighting trespassers from Pakistan during 1999 Kargil War.  Born on 9th September 1974, in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, he began his military career on 6th December 1997, with the 13th battalion of Jammu & Kashmir Rifles of Indian Army. He was also part of one of the most vital battles during the Kargil war that included capturing Tololing mountain range & Pt 4875.

  • India's April Tea Output Fell 54 percent due to Lockdown

    India's April tea production fell 54 percent from a year earlier to 39.02 million kilograms as restrictions to stop the spread of Covid-19 reduced plucking in the key producing north-eastern state of Assam, according to the state-run Tea Board.

    The board said, for Assam alone, output in the month of April plunged 76 percent from a year ago to 10.99 million kg.

  • Coronavirus: India Has Over 7 Lakh Confirmed COVID-19 Cases

    India’s Coronavirus tally has crossed 7 lakh-mark, with the country witnessing 22,252 fresh cases in the 24 hours since 8 am on Monday. It must be noted that just five days back, the country had passed the 6 lakh-mark. The death toll went up to 20,160 after 467 more deaths were reported by the Union health ministry.
