• Bhartiya Kisan Sangh distances itself from Bharat Bandh

  The Bhartiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) has distanced itself from the Bharat Bandh called on December 8 by the farmer unions.
  
  The BKS in its statement has said that "Bhartiya Kisan Sangh has decided to remain aloof of the Bandh call and appeal to its members all over the country to be attentive and alert the fellow citizens so that any untoward incident may be avoided. We hope that the nation and the farming fraternity will sincerely cooperate to with Bhartiya Kisan Sangh".

• Karnataka farmers to join 'Bharat Bandh' against farm laws

  Thousands of farmers across Karnataka would join 'Bharat bandh' on December 8 to protest against the 3 controversial farm laws and in support of their repeal, Karnataka Rajya Riatha Sangha president K. Chandreshekar said on Sunday.
  

  "All members of about 300 farmers' organisations will participate in the day-long bandh on Tuesday in cities and towns across the state except in Bengaluru, where it (shutdown) will be observed on Wednesday for logistic reasons," Chandrashekhar told reporters here.

• PM Modi expresses gratitude to Armed Forces on Flag Day

  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces on Flag Day, saying "India is proud of heroic service and selfless sacrifice of Armed Forces".

  
  In a tweet, the Prime Minister said: "Armed Forces Flag Day is a day to express gratitude to our armed forces and their families. India is proud of their heroic service and selfless sacrifice. Do contribute towards the welfare of our forces. This gesture will help so many of our brave personnel and their families."

• PM Modi inaugurates construction of Agra Metro project

  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the construction work of the Agra Metro project in Uttar Pradesh through video conferencing.
  

  Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other dignitaries took part in the event organised at 15 Battalion PAC parade ground in Agra.
  
  This metro project is spread across two corridors and will boost 'Ease of Living' for the people of Agra as well as benefit tourists who visit Agra, the Prime Minister said.

• 85% believe farmers' protest will worsen Covid surge

  As the Covid-19 daily caseload in Delhi finally saw a decline after a major festival-related surge since early November with number of daily cases coming down from 7,000 to an average of 3,500, the farmers agitation at the Delhi borders could turn out to be the next "superspreader" people worry, a survey shows.
  
  With over 3,00,000 farmers already protesting in Delhi, protests are also growing in other cities of India. Latest reports suggest that over 40 farmers at the protest site in Delhi are already showing symptoms of Covid, such as high fever, cough and fatigue and refuse to get tested or be admitted in hospitals nearby.

• Centre should bring new law on MSP: Delhi govt

  The Delhi government on Monday said the Centre should implement the MSP in the country on the basis of the report of the Swaminathan Commission in order to increase the farmers' income.
  Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said this after taking part in a meeting that was also attended by the agriculture ministers of Haryana and Punjab.
  A meeting was called by the Central Government on Monday to look into the issues of the farmers of Delhi, Haryana and Punjab.

• Mamata demands withdrawal of 'anti-people' farm laws, attacks BJP

  West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday demanded that the Centre should immediately withdraw the "anti-people" farm laws or step down. She said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government should not continue in power after sacrificing the rights of the farmers.
  "The BJP government should immediately withdraw the farm bills or step down from power at the Centre. It has no rights to continue to remain in power after sacrificing the rights of the farmers," Banerjee said while addressing a mega rally at the Midnapore College Ground in the district. Vegetables were seen placed on the podium from where she was delivering her speech.

• Security beefed up in Gurugram dist ahead of 'Bharat Bandh'

  Gurugram authorities on Monday beefed up security in the district and even planned to issue prohibitory orders to prevent any untoward incident during the 'Bharat Bandh' called by protesting farmers on Tuesday.
  
  More than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations in the district, ACP (Headquarters) Usha Kundu said. "We have issued an advisory to police officials concerned to take necessary precautionary measures in view of the call for shutdown given by farmers and supported by various political parties."
  
  

• PM to address India Mobile Congress 2020 on Tuesday

  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the three-day India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2020 inaugural event on Tuesday which aims to align to his vision to promote 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat', 'Digital Inclusivity', and 'Sustainable development, entrepreneurship and innovation'.
  
  The Prime Minister will participate in the event at 10.45 a.m. through video conferencing. The IMC 2020 is being organised by the Central government's Department of Telecommunications and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). It will be held from December 8th to December 10th.
