  • Weather India: IMD Issues Red Alert in Kerala & Karnataka; Heavy Rainfall to Continue This Week

    According to Kerala Police, 9 people have died, 57 are missing and several others injured as a landslide occurred at Idukki district’s Rajamala near Munnar tourist spot. In the meantime, a Red alert has been issued for Idukki, Malappuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam & Wayanad districts till 11th August for extremely heavy rainfall.

    In addition, heavy downpour, landslides, overflowing river & lakes, and flood-like situation have battered parts of neigbouring Karnataka. IMD has issued a Red Alert in seven districts & forecast heavy rainfall for the next 4 days due to low-pressure formation.

  • OFSS Bihar Merit List 2020: BSEB Releases Class 11 Admission List

    BSEB or Bihar School Examination Board has released the first merit list or selection list for the admission to intermediate classes. Students who have applied online can now check the merit list at the official website - ofssbihar.in and then apply for their admission to Class 11. The Bihar School Examination Board has also published the list of allotted institutes. As per the allotment list, candidates can register themselves with respective schools. In total, three merit lists will be released by the board.

  • Kisan Rail: Country’s first train to transport perishable commodities starts journey

    In a move to benefit farmers producing perishable commodities, the Indian Railways has launched Kisan Rail service on 7th August 2020. Kisan rail that will run between Deolali in Maharashtra to Danapur in Bihar, would cover the journey of 1,519 kilometres in 32 hours.

    The train will run on a weekly basis and is expected to build a national cold supply chain for perishable items such as fish, meat & milk.

  • Himachal Pradesh to certify farmers engaged in natural farming

    All the farmers engaged in natural farming will be certify under Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana. Anil Khachi, Chief Secretary, during a meeting of the Task Force on Natural Farming had directed Agriculture Department officers to complete the certification of farmers. Khachi said that it was important to certify farmers engaged in natural farming so that they can get better market & price. He also stressed on the need to develop a brand to ease the recognition & marketing of natural produce.

  • Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi is the New UPSC Chairperson

    Prof. Pradeep Kumar Joshi, present member of Union Public Service Commission & former chairperson of Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission & Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the central body that organizes various recruitment including Civil Services exam among others.

    Prof Joshi would succeed Arvind Saxena who has completed his term as Union Public Service Commission chairperson on 7th August, PTI quoted officials as saying.
