  • What is the Significance of Parijat Tree?

    Today (5th August 2020) before the Bhumi Pujan & the foundation-stone laying ceremony of Ram Lalla's Mandir in Ayodhya, PM Narendra Modi will plant a sapling of ‘Parijat tree’ in the Ram Janmabhoomi temple complex. The Parijat, also called Coral Jasmine Tree is said to be Kalpa Vriksh or Kalpa Taru or wish-granting tree, one of the many Ratnas that came out from the cosmic ocean (Krishrasagara) during Samudra Manthan in the Satyuga.

    Google Doodle today reminds us to wear face masks & take proper care of our hygiene to stay safe amid Covid-19 pandemic. The animated doodle is showing all the letters developing legs with face masks of different colors & maintaining social distancing to keep everyone safe.

    Different colors of face masks also show that these are the latest fashion accessories and you can pair it with outfits accordingly. World Health Organisation has said that it is compulsory for people to wear face masks at public places as it will help in preventing the spread of the virus.

  • Mumbai Rains Updates: Red Alert Issued for Mumbai Metropolitan Region & Other Parts

    According to PTI, heavy rains continued to lash Maharashtra as several low-lying regions of Thane & Palghar districts were flooded. As per reports from disaster control room at Palghar, talukas of Dahanu, Jawhar & Vikramgad have witnessed heavy rainfall, while water-logging was observed in the Vasai-Virar region NDRF teams have been stationed at both areas, PTI reported.

    IMD has issued a red alert for MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) & some other parts of Maharashtra for 5th August 2020.

  • IISc-developed Mobile Covid-19 Testing Lab

    Developed by the Indian Institute of Science, a mobile RT-PCR Coronavirus testing laboratory was launched in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The lab that is claimed to be the 1st ICMR-approved mobile RT-PCR Covid-19 testing laboratory in the country, is capable of doing 9,000 tests / month, informed Karnataka Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar after inaugurating the facility.

    He said, “This is a unique lab having all safety features & is capable of producing 100 percent accurate results within four hours".
