  • No Cold Wave In North India For The Next 4 to 5 Days

    On Sunday, a prominent scientist at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) projected that there would be no cold wave in northwest India for the next four to five days. "Two Western disturbances are coming consecutively," senior scientist RK Jenamani said as the mercury dropped in the northern and northwest parts of the country, according to news agency ANI. "One is 3rd January night to 7th January morning and the other is 7th January afternoon to 9 January or 10 January," he said.

  • PM Modi To Inaugurate Many Projects In Manipur & Tripura on 4 Jan

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the states of Manipur and Tripura on January 4 to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate a number of developmental projects and services, according to an official statement. The Prime Minister will dedicate twenty-two development projects worth over Rs. 4800 crore in Manipur. The Prime Minister will also open two major development efforts in Agartala, namely the New Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport and the New Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport.

     

  • India Waiting For Global Sugar Prices To Rise Strike An Export Deals

    Industry organization ISMA said on Monday that Indian sugar mills are still waiting for global sugar prices to rise before entering into new export deals. Because of the drop in global raw sugar prices, not many export contracts have been inked in the previous month or two, aside from the 38-40 lakh tonne of export contracts that have already been signed, the company said in a statement. "With nearly nine months left in the current season, mills are still looking for the right moment to sign new export contracts," the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) noted.

  • Shree Jagannath Temple Reopens After 3 Days

    After a three-day hiatus, the revered Shree Jagannath Temple reopened to worshipers on Monday. From December 31, the temple was closed to worshipers. Due to an increase of Covid-19 cases, the 12th-century shrine was closed to avoid large crowds on New Year's Day. During the three days, all priestly and servant rituals, including sanitization, were performed in the temple. The official stated that elaborate efforts had been made to assure devotees' comfort while complying with all Covid procedures.

  • Government Employees of Assam To Get Special Holiday On 6-7 Jan

    On Sunday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked government personnel to spend quality time with their parents or in-laws on the auspicious holidays of January 6 and 7. "I urge Assam government personnel to spend quality time with their parents/in-laws on January 6 and 7, designated as special vacations, to safeguard ancient Indian values," the Assam Chief Minister tweeted.

  • These Two Banks Hiked FD Rates

    Rate hikes have begun to be announced by Indian banks and financial institutions. The State Bank of India (SBI) increased the benchmark lending rate, or base rate, by 10 basis points (bps) without waiting for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to raise the repo rate or reverse repo rate. HDFC Bank and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank both announced increases in fixed deposit rates. Fixed deposit interest rates have been raised by HDFC Bank (FDs). Starting December 1, 2021, higher interest rates will be applied to FDs. On specific tenors, HDFC Bank has raised rates by up to 10 basis points (bps).
