  • Farmer’s Keen on Hiring the Affordable Kisan Drones

    Farmers want to employ 'Kisan drones' to spray pesticides and fertilizers on their crops if they can rent them for a reasonable price, according to farmer organizations. "Using Kisan drones will minimize farm labour dependency," stated Yashwanth Chidipothu, national spokesperson of the Federation of All India Farmers' Association (Faifa).   • Export of Mills 26.5 Lakh Tonnes of Sugar Till Jan 2021-22

    The government announced on Wednesday that sugar mills exported 26.5 lakh tonnes of sugar in the first four months of the 2021-22 marketing year, which ended in September. Sugar exports are expected to reach 70 lakh tonnes in 2020-21. "Till date, contracts for export of sugar worth over 40 lakh tonnes have been inked for the current sugar season 2021-22, and that too without any announcement of any export subsidy," Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said in response to a Lok Sabha question.

  • Yearly Sugar Production Till January 5.6%, Says ISMA

    According to the Indian Sugar Mills Association, India's sugar production in 2021-22 is up 5.6 percent year on year as of January 31. (ISMA). According to ISNA, 507 sugar mills were operating in the country on January 31, 2022, producing 187.08 million tonnes of sugar, compared to 177.06 million tonnes produced by 491 mills on the same date last season. This is 10.02 lac tonnes more than the previous season's production for the same period.
