Punjab VB Busted 7 Crores Scam In agricultural society
The Vigilance Bureau, Punjab, raided a scam to the tune of 7 crores in Karnana Multipurpose Agricultural Service Society Limited, after looking in to the matter Karnana village has registered a case against seven officials at the VB police station in Jalandhar. The bureau has also arrested five accused in the case. Jalandhar SSP, Vigilance Bureau, Diljinder Singh Dhillon said during the investigation into the accounts of the society, it had come to light that a scam to the tune of Rs 7,14,07,596.23 had been committed in connivance with employees of the cooperative society. -
Exports Of More Wheat-Related Products Banned
The government has decided to ban exports of maida, semolina and wholemeal aata to check rising prices ahead of the festive season. This comes after the ban on exports of wheat on 13 May and wheat flour—or atta—last week. However, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said exports of these items would be allowed in certain cases, subject to government permission. -
HP Women Farmers All Set To Become Change Makers In Agro-Marketing
A group of 60 women, from Solan himachal Pradesh have registered an all-women Farmer Producer Company (FPC) for collective marketing of the certified chemical-free natural produce recently. they have not only switched over from first chemical based farming to the non-chemical but also have expertise in low cost and climate resilient natural farming technique. All this happened with the help of state government's umbrella project – which is Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojana. -
Abhijit Sen, Leading Economist Of Indian Agriculture Passes Away
Former member of the Planning Commission and leading economist of Indian agriculture, Abhijit Sen, died at an age of 72 after a brief illness. In an academic career spanning over four decades, Sen taught economics at Sussex, Oxford, Cambridge and Essex before joining the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning at Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1985. -
African Swine Fever Kills Over 800 Pigs Killed In Jharkhand
More than 800 pigs have died of African Swine Fever in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district since July 27. According to a govt official, this fever was first discovered in Assam in February 2020 and had affected both domestic and feral swine. Jharkhand’s Animal Husbandry director Shashi Prakash Jha said "Samples were sent for testing to the National Institute of High-Security Animal Disease in Bhopal early this month and the reports came back positive." -
Allocates 230 Crores For Rural Infra Projects In Mizoram
National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has approved an allocation of Rs 230 crore for rural infrastructure projects in Mizoram. KVSSLV Prasada Rao, General Manager, Chief Minister Zoramthanga informed that the Mizoram regional office and handed over a letter from the Chairman NABARD informing allocation of Rs 230 crore under RIDF XXVIII for sanctioning of rural infrastructure projects in the state. -
