Cyclone Alert: IMD Issues Red Alert in Odisha
On 1st December (Wednesday), the Odisha government asked the collectors to prepare for an evacuation from 13 districts due to the forecast of a cyclonic storm, Jawad reaching the coast on December, 4. As per the India Meteorological Department, a low-pressure region emerging in South Andaman Sea would deepen into a depression & proceed as a cyclonic storm towards the Odisha coast on December 4. The government chalked out a disaster management strategy for rescue & relief operations as part of a substantial measure. The operations have been requisitioned by National Disaster Response Force, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force & fire department personnel.

Govt. Announces MSP on 22 Major Agriculture Commodities Every Year
The government told the Lok Sabha that it announces the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 22 major agricultural commodities of a Fair Average Quality (FAQ) every year in both Crop seasons after taking into account the recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP). It comes as the parties are mounting pressure on the government demanding a law on MSP. After a few hours when a parliament passed a bill to repeal the 3 Agri laws on Monday, the Congress in-charge of Gujarat Raghu Sharma demanded that government brings a law to guarantee farmers a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce.

Sugarcane Arrears Reaches Rs 4,445Cr in 2020 to 2021 Season
Sugarcane farmers to be paid by the sugar mills to farmers stood at Ts 4,445 crore during 2020 to 2021 seasons with maximum arrears in Uttar Pradesh, parliament was informed on 1st December (Wednesday). During the 2020 to 2021 season, a total of Rs 92,804 crore was to be paid towards the sugarcane price to farmers. Out of which Rs 88,359 crore has been paid & the balance Rs 4,445 crore dues are pending according to the data placed before the Lok Sabha by Minister of State for Food Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti.
