Giriraj Singh Launches ‘Captive Employment’ Initiative Under DDU-GKY, Paves Way for Skilling Rural Poor Youth
Union Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh onboarded 19 captive employers as part of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) in New Delhi today. Captive employers will train rural poor youth and employ them in jobs within their company or subsidiary. Union Ministers of State Kapil Moreshwar Patil (Panchayati Raj), Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti (Rural Development and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution), and Faggan Singh Kulaste (Rural Development and Steel) also graced the occasion. Addressing at the ceremony, Giriraj Singh stated that India has the potential to become the world's skill capital, and that the MoU inked between the MoRD and the Captive Employers is the first step towards that goal. In the first phase, 19 Captive Employers have been hired to train and employ over 31,000 rural youth.

Wheat Export Ban to Continue Until Domestic Supplies Are Sufficient: Says FCI Chairman
On Tuesday, the government said the export ban on wheat will continue as long as the country does not feel comfortable with the domestic supplies to meet the food security needs. State-owned Food Corporation of India (FCI) Chairman and Managing Director Ashok K Meena addressing a press conference said wheat production has not been affected due to unseasonal rains. This year, even after rains, the total wheat output will be at a record 112 million tonnes. He mentioned that the government procurement of fresh wheat crop has kicked off, and on Monday, about 10,727 tonnes was purchased at minimum support price (MSP) in Madhya Pradesh. In May 2022, India which is the world's second-largest wheat-producing country banned wheat exports with instant effect as a part of measures to curb the increasing domestic prices.

Menon, who is the Executive Director of the International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA), and Gakhar, who is the Director of Operations, discussed the current state of organic agriculture and its importance in promoting sustainable agriculture systems and businesses.

Nagarahole Tiger Reserve Tribes Protest for Forest Rights Amidst Displacement
The forest serves as a lifeline for the Betta Kuruba, Jenu Kuruba, and Yerava tribal communities residing in the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve. These indigenous communities have been fighting for their rights and demanding an end to forced displacement in the name of wildlife preservation. The Nagarahole Adivasi Forest Rights Establishment Committee, which is dedicated to fighting for Adivasi rights, recently led a march or padayatra inside the forest, which ended in front of the Range Forest Office in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve. Since Nagarahole was declared a tiger reserve in 1999, many Adivasi residents have been displaced. The younger generation among these communities has now formed Community Networks Against Protected Areas (CNAPA), which includes activists from Tiger Reserves across India.

ICAR-RCER Organizes National Workshop on ‘Agricultural Water Management in Changing Climate’ in Patna
In his presidential address, Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhary, Deputy Director General, Natural Resource Management Division, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, highlighted the use of water in agriculture and discussed modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT, sensor-based irrigation systems, and so on. Because the availability of water is reducing by the day, he emphasized the usage of modern irrigation systems. Dr. Alok Kumar Sikka, Country Representative-India, IWMI, addressed the farmers and discussed flood and drought management. He also talked about sensor-based agriculture and irrigation, as well as how to grow more crops with less water. He stressed the necessity of energy saving as well as water conservation and storage.
