• Revolutionary Bhagat Singh's spirit alive amid Punjab farmers’ protest 

  With slogans of 'Inquilab Zindabad' on lips, hundreds of protesting farmers, both men and women, with strong grit, determination and revolutionary thoughts of Shahid-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, have gathered along borders of the national capital for a planned protest against new farm laws with the commitment and spirit of volunteering. Men wearing t-shirts with photos of Bhagat Singh on them and women donning yellow 'dupattas' on their heads that represent the colour of martyrs, the protesters largely from Punjab have been hogging the limelight. 

• Farmers' stir chokes various points near Delhi-Haryana border 

  The traffic movement at various points near the Delhi-Haryana border was affected on Saturday as farmers continued to lay siege to Singhu and Tikri borders blocking the highway. Many farmers have refused to leave their spot near the Delhi borders despite a designated ground offered to them at Nirankari Samagam Ground in North Delhi's Burari area. 

  Traffic was diverted from Azadpur Terminal Underpass, Azadpur Chowk and G T K Depot. The Delhi traffic police have advised commuters to take diverted routes. 

• Sanjay, Akbaruddin booked for inciting speeches in Hyderabad 

  The city police have booked suo motu cases against two firebrand politicians, Bandi Sanjay of the BJP, and Akbaruddin Owaisi of MIM, for making inciting speeches while canvassing for the forthcoming high stakes Hyderabad civic body polls. 

  "We have filed suo motu cases on Sanjay and Owaisi," confirmed Hyderabad west zone deputy commissioner of police (DCP) A. R. Srinivas. Srinivas said both the leaders were booked for making provocative speeches recently during political meetings. 

    

• UP ordinance on conversions comes into force after Guv nod 

  Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Saturday gave her nod to the ordinance on religious conversions promulgated by the Yogi Adityanath government, paving the way for its enforcement across the state with immediate effect. 

  The Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020, was sent to the Raj Bhavan for necessary action last Wednesday after the Cabinet approval a day earlier. 

  The ordinance will now have to be passed in both Houses of the state legislature within six months. 

   

• KCR not to receive Modi at Hakimpet airbase 

  Amid reports that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao being not invited to receive Prime Minister at the Hakimpet airport on Saturday, an official confirmed that Rao is not going to receive Narendra Modi. 

  "The chief minister is not going to receive Modi," an official from the chief minister's office confirmed to media agencies. Modi is on a whirlwind three-city tour, including Hyderabad, a pharmaceutical heavyweight, to check on the progress made in developing a vaccine for Coronavirus which has paralysed the world.
