    Post a successive inaugural ceremony and two rounds of technical workshops on Day 1, the OUAT Farmers' Fair 2023 received a massive footfall on its conclusion day on Tuesday. The day-2 of the event began with the arrival of guests on the dais and their welcome by the floral bouquet and a welcome address along with a brief report on the fair by Dr SK Swain, dean of research at OUAT.

  • Punjab Farmers to Get Subsidies on Farm Equipment & Specialised Hiring Centres Establishment

    The government of Punjab is set to offer subsidies to the farmers in the state so they can set up specialty hiring facilities and buy a variety of agricultural equipment. The state's farmers can register for the subsidy online at agrimachinerypb.com by February 28 for individual applications as well as to establish specialized hiring centers, according to Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, minister of agriculture and farmers’ welfare.

     

  • Bihar Budget 2023 to Focus on Agriculture, Employment & Health

    The Bihar Budget for the year 2023-24 will mainly focus on employment, health, and agriculture. Bihar's total expenditure was Rs 1.93 lakh crore in 2021-22, with revenue expenditure accounting for 82.4% of it. Bihar's Finance Minister, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, presented the Budget for the financial year 2023-2024 in the state assembly today. This is the first Budget of the second grand alliance government after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar broke ties with BJP in August last year. The focus of the Budget is likely to be on employment, health, and agriculture, as these are some of the key agendas that Bihar residents are expecting to be addressed.

    The Indian government's National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) has warned that the country’s farmers will face declining crop yields due to climate change, and that small and marginal farmer will be the most vulnerable. Climate change is having a significant impact on agriculture in India, and small and marginal farmers are particularly vulnerable. The country has seen successive acute monsoons in recent years, leading to a decline in the area of crop coverage for monsoon crops like paddy and pulses. This has resulted in a depreciating surplus of certain food grains in the central pool compared to previous years.
