Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik writes to Mandaviya about Short Supply of Fertilizers

On Friday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya about the state's short supply of fertilizers compared to its monthly requirement during the current Kharif season. Patnaik wrote in his letter, "It is envisaged to make good the loss with a good harvest expecting a near normal monsoon in line with the forecast of IMD," requesting Mandaviya's personal intervention in the matter of insufficient supply of fertilizers against its monthly requirement, including the backlog of previous months. As a result, the supply of this most critical input, fertiliser, should be as needed.

APEDA Facilitates ‘Aijung’, ‘Joha’ Rice Export to Dubai

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the export of Assamese rice varieties with the Geographical Indication (GI) tag to Dubai in an effort to give farmers growing high-value crops access to the market. On Wednesday, a 10 metric tonne shipment of "joha" and "aijung" was sent from Chennai port, providing important access to Dubai markets for farmers in lower Assam. Lower Assam's farmers in the Nalbari and Kamrup districts provided the "joha" rice shipment, while Kamrup district provided the "aijung" variety.
Dutch Province Prohibits Farmers from Using Surface Water Due to Severe Drought

Due to the ongoing drought, farmers in the southernmost province of the Netherlands, Limburg, will not be permitted to use surface water, particularly river water, for agricultural purposes, according to a source. According to the Dutch Broadcasting Foundation (NOS), a ban on the use of surface water for farming will go into effect in northern and central Limburg on August 26 at 12 p.m. local time (10:00 GMT) in an effort to stop further river water level decline and drying up.
