  • IMD Predicts Heavy to Extremely Rainfall in These States Toll November 29

    The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts o southern India from 27th November (Saturday) to 29th November (Monday) due to a cyclonic circulation. The weatherman also said that the rainfall activity over Konkan, Goa, mid-Maharashtra & Gujarat is likely to increase during 30th November & 1st December. IMD said that the cyclonic circulation lies over the Comorin area & adjoining Sri Lanka coasts in lower levels & strong northeasterly winds are prevailing over Tamil Nadu coast & south coastal Andhra Pradesh at lower level to the north of the circulation. The circulation is likely to emerge in the Arabian Sea on 29th November (Monday) & move towards the northwestwards thereafter.

  • Tomato Price Rise to Rs 75 per kg in Delhi

    The retail tomato price on 26th November (Friday) shot up to Rs 75 per kilogram in the National Capital while the rates in some parts of South India softened but were still high, as per the government data. In Chennai, retail tomato prices declined to Rs 63 per kg on 22nd November (Monday).

     

  • Wheat Sowing of up to 3.36% So Far

    Area sown to wheat, the main Rabi crop, rose 3.36% to 138.35 lakh hectares so far during the current Rabi season from 133.84 lakh hectares a year ago, as per the agriculture ministry. The Rabi sowing begins in October while harvesting starts from March onwards. Besides wheat, mustard & gram are the other main Rabi crops. According to the ministry data, wheat has been sown in 35.8 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh, 34.8 lakh hectares in Uttar Pradesh, 29.45 lakh hectares in Punjab, 13.78 lakh hectares in Haryana & 13.37 lakh hectares in Rajasthan so far this Rabi season of 2021 to 2022 crop year, up from 322.70 lakh hectare in the year-ago.
