• Estimates for food grains higher this year

  7.94 million tonnes more food grains are expected to be produced this year, when compared with the last year estimates. This rise in estimates is attributed to the hard work of the farmers, research of scientists and good policies followed by the Government.

• Bengaluru packed jackfruits exported to Germany

  10.2 MT of Jackfruits processed by APEDA in Bengaluru have been shipped to Germany by sea. These jackfruits were grown organically, in a chemical free way.

• Free food grains distributed to the poor of the country

  Under PMGKAY food grains are being distributed to the poor of the country, at a good pace. These grains are being distributed free of cost. 5 Kilograms of grain, per person is being provided by the FCI.

• Government orders research on use of Biomass with coal, as fuel

  Ministry of power has ordered research on, if Biomass can be combined with coal in power plants to produce energy. If the results are positive then biomass can be used as a non-polluting part of the fuel with coal.

• Cyclone Yaas moves to Jharkhand

  Cyclone Yaas, has crossed Odisha, West Bengal and is now impacting Jharkhand. This cyclone has halted normal life in these two states, especially in the coastal regions.

• FAO suggested VAM corn more nutritious

  Zimbabwe's staple food is corn. They mostly grow white corn, which lacks in nutrition. FAO suggested Vitamin A maize, orange in colour, which has improved the health particularly of children and pregnant women.

  US Embassy has issued guidance to American citizens in India – seek shelter in case of cyclone hits your area, prepare for the cyclone with emergency rations, prepare evacuation plans and update your family about your status during cyclone.

• Fast winds to follow rains over Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar

  Even as the hurricane 'Yaas' weakens rain like conditions will prevail over most of eastern India. In case of no rains, gusty winds will blow over these regions.

• Port workers included as essential workers in Argentina

  Argentina has declared Port workers as essential workers, after Port workers started a strike, that they are essential workers and should be on priority for Corona vaccines.
