  • Bamboo crop sales will double farmer income

    Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, said that sales of Bamboo crops will go a long way in doubling farmers income. Bamboo farming will increase employment opportunities and improve the standard of living of the people. He suggested the formation of FPOs which will encourage farmers to take up Bamboo farming. He made these comments at the inaugural session of ‘National Consultation on Opportunities and Challenges for Bamboo in India’.

    The first edition of Global Bio-India, 2019 showcasing latest technologies, held in Delhi, was extremely successful and hence the second edition is being organised on digital platform.   • India will have bumper harvest in grains this year

    Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare expects India to have a bumper harvest in grains this year. The ministry expects the harvest of rice and wheat grains to exceed last year's production of grains.

  • Visitors to Delhi must provide no infection certificate

    People travelling to Delhi from Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab will have to furnish proofs that they are not infected by COVID. These visitors will have to provide the certificates before they start their journey to Delhi. Visitors from these states are especially being targeted for infection test because of high number of new and old infection cases in these states.

    China has plans to increase its corn planting acreage to increase corn production and to treat polluted lands with crop rotation.

    The ongoing agitation by the farmers has been the biggest problem for the Modi government this term. Not only are the protests being given prime time coverage across all Indian channels, these protests are also gathering the support of International community. Celebrities across the globe have tweeted in support of the Indian farmers.

  • Environmentalist demand review of power projects following Chamoli disaster

    The flash floods in Chamoli swept away 200 people and 2 hydro electric projects. Most of the scientists are of the view that the flash floods happened in winter season, which is not common, due to ice melting caused by strong sunshine. The environmentalist are demanding a review on building power plants in sensitive high altitude regions.

  • China bans Taiwan pineapples

    Chinese government has banned Taiwanese pineapples from imports, due to suspected pest threat. They claim they have done this to protect their farms. Taiwanese President has asked Taiwan to buy more pineapples so as to assist the farmers who will lose income due to ban on their fruits.

  • COVID vaccinations stopped for CO-Win upgrade

    Indian government has stopped COVID vaccinations for two days, while CO-Win is added to the "Aarogya Setu" App which is the government App against Corona Pandemic. The app tracks your local Corona cases and your chances of getting infected by Corona. Co-Win upgrade will fix vaccination appointments, allow health authorities to monitor supplies and download proof of immunisation.
