  • ICAR-ATARI, Bengaluru Pioneering Food, Nutrition, Livelihood Security via Inclusive Technologies & Innovative KVK Network

    The Agricultural Extension Division under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi has established a nationwide network of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) since the IV Five Year Plan in the country. These KVKs are hosted by ICAR institutes, State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), State Government Departments and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) with the financial support of the Government of India.

  • India to Chair International Sugar Organisation in 2024 to Lead Global Sugar Sector

    In a landmark decision at its 63rd council meeting, the International Sugar Organisation (ISO), headquartered in London, declared India as the Chair of the organization for the year 2024. This prestigious appointment underscores India's growing influence in the global sugar sector and positions the country as a key player in shaping the industry's future. During the ISO Council Meeting, Sanjeev Chopra, Secretary (Food), Government of India, expressed gratitude for the honor and emphasized India's commitment to promoting sustainable practices in sugarcane cultivation, sugar and ethanol production, and the efficient utilization of by-products. 

  • National Milk Day 2023 Celebrated by Dept of Animal Husbandry and Dairying at Veterinary College in Guwahati

    National Milk Day honours the 102nd birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese, the "Father of the White Revolution in India," highlighting the achievement and importance of the dairy sector in our country. Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala is the Chief Guest of the event. Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and the state Ministers for Animal Husbandry, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh also graced the occasion.

  • APEDA Facilitates Global Cashew Export on National Cashew Day to Bangladesh, Qatar, Malaysia & USA

    The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Development Authority (APEDA), a body under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, marked National Cashew Day on November 23rd, 2023, by facilitating the export of Cashew Nuts to Bangladesh, Qatar, Malaysia, and the USA. This initiative is a significant step in diversifying the market for Indian cashew products. Bangladesh, in particular, is set to receive its inaugural shipment of Cashew Nuts from Odisha, underscoring India's role as a major player in the global cashew trade.
