  • Union Minister Urges Agriculture Students To Help Address Issues In Farm Sector

    Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar speaking at the convocation of the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management urged the students of a premier agriculture institute to give time to usher in prosperity in the country's farm sector which faces several issues on account of climate change and impact of natural occurrences. He talked about safeguarding the interests of farmers because of the impact of climate change, enhancing their income, increasing the use of technology in the farm sector, how farmers can move towards new crops, and attracting the new generation to agriculture.

  • More Than 10,000 Farmers Found ineligible For PMKSN Scheme

    The ongoing mapping of farmland and scrutiny of land records of the farmers, who had applied for benefits to be given under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, has reached its halfway mark, and now the paryagraj district administration has found that about 10,000 ineligible individuals have duped the government of Rs 22 crore by fraudulently claiming the benefits. Since the scrutiny was still on, authorities believe that count may further rise in the coming weeks.
  • Gramophone Launches Credit Financing To Farmers

    Agritech startup Gramophone has partnered with Saraloan and Rupifi to offer credit to agri input retailers with a credit limit of upto ₹5 lakhs. The company claims, it has access to 18 lakh farmers and over 6,000 agriculture input retailers. On this Tauseef Khan, Co-Founder & CEO, of Gramophone, said “There are several fintech players, NBFCs, and banks’ availability in the retail credit market, however, lending to farmers is still seen as a problem. The cost of loan origination and management are major obstacles to lending to the farming ecosystem. Gramophone solves these problems with the network of micro-entrepreneurs and digital infrastructure to manage the last mile operations.” 
  • Dairy Farmers Called Off Their Protest!

    After receiving an assurance from chief minister Bhagwant Mann regarding the release of pending payments, Milk supply in the city will return to normality starting Saturday as the Progressive Dairy Farmers Association and Bhartiya Kisan Union called off their indefinite sit-in to mark their protest against the state government outside the Verka milk plant on Ferozepur Road after last three days. Protesters said the state government had promised to provide ₹55 per kg of fat in milk for dairy farmers at the end of their prior agitation in Mohali, which ended in May.
  • Protest Over MSP For Crops To Continue: Tikait

    BKU leader Rakesh Tikait, while addressing the farmers who are protesting for the past 65 days against the acquisition of 1,810 acres by the government, accused the Centre of misleading people over the minimum support price for crops and said the stir for it will continue. Tikait said the government must pass a bill in Parliament, ensuring MSP for crops. He also alleged that the government is not ready to talk about farmers' issues.
