  • Incessant Rainfall damages vegetable crops in Odisha

    Nonstop rainfall over the last five days because of a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal have destroyed crops and increased the prices of vegetables in Kendrapara district, Odisha. Large areas of agriculture land have been flooded due to the heavy rainfall causing considerable damage to vegetable crops such as beans, brinjal, radish, lady finger, pointed gourd, etc.

  • Weather warning: Orange Alert issued for Himachal, Uttarakhand; North India to Witness Heavy Rainfall This Week

    North and Northwest parts of India will witness a fresh spell of rainfall for the next 2-3 days starting from August 25. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the convergence of lower-level easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal & south-westerlies from the Arabian Sea would increase rainfall activity over northwest India from 25th August onwards, bringing widespread showers until August 28.

    IMD has also placed Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Rajasthan under a yellow watch for today, thereby advising people to ‘be aware’ of the impending isolated heavy rains. Orange alert has been issued for Himachal and Uttarakhand.
