  • Gujarat, first state to adopt a policy for solar power says PM Modi  

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 24 inaugurated three projects in Gujarat including the Kisan Sarvodaya Scheme. In this scheme, the farmers will get electricity during the day for the irrigation purpose and also told that Gujarat was the first state to adopt the policy for solar power generation. 

    PM Modi also inaugurated Paediatric Heart Hospital attached with U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre and Mobile App for telecardiology at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital and the Ropeway at Girnar via video conferencing. 

  • Coronavirus Latest Update: Devendra Fadnavis tests COVID-19 positive 

    Bharatiya Janata Party's Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday tested COVID-19 positive and gone into isolation.  "I have been working every single day since the lockdown, but now it seems that God wants me to stop for a while and take a break!" Fadnavis tweeted. 

  • World Polio Day 2020: Need for uninterrupted vaccination during COVID-19 pandemic 

    World Polio Day is observed around the globe amid the COVID-19 pandemic on October 24, experts underlined the need for continuing the polio immunisation programme to help maintain India's polio-free status. 

    Since March 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has disrupted life-saving immunisation endeavours around the world, putting millions of children at risk of diseases like polio, diphtheria, and measles. 

    Maine Mendoza, the Filipino actress, tweeted that “No child should have to suffer from a vaccine-preventable disease.”  

  • RJD releases manifesto 'Prann Hamara, Sankalp Badlav Ka' ahead of Bihar polls  

    Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday released its manifesto or vision document, reiterating the promise to recruit 10 lakhs, persons, in government jobs if the party returned to power in Bihar. 

    The manifesto, titled 'Prann Hamara, Sankalp Badlav Ka' was released by Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan or Grand Alliance, in the presence of party spokesperson Manoj Jha, Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala and Shaktisinh Gohil and other leaders. 

  • Karnataka HC asks Franklin Templeton not to wind up schemes without investors' consent 

    The High Court of Karnataka on October 24, restrained Franklin Templeton (FT) India's decision from winding up its six debt schemes without obtaining the consent of unitholders. 

    Pronouncing the verdict in petitions challenging the winding-up of six debt fund schemes of FT, a division bench of Chief Justice A.S. Oka and Justice Ashok S. Kinagi directed that trustees should not take any action on the winding up of the six schemes till a simple majority consent of unit holders is obtained.
