  • Doubling Fishers’ Income: A Sustainable Development Approach by CIFRI

    Swami Shivapurnanada Ji Maharaj, Asst. Administrative Head of RKMVRI & Vice Chairman, Sashyshyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Arpunch, Sonarpur, WB was the Chief Guest & Prof. Ashis Kumar Panigrahi, Pro- Vice Chancellor of Burdwan University was the Guest of Honour. About 80 fish farmers from different corners of West Bengal participated in this auspicious program. One FCS, three progressive fish farmers including two women and one Enterpreneur were felicitated with prestigious awards viz Chamta FCS, N24PGS, Kanai Hembram, Ramcharkar, Sagar Island, Babli Mondal, Kultoli, Sundarbans, Sukhodi Mardi, Asadullapur (Bishnubati), Birbhum & Dipankar Mazumdar, Ashoknagar, 24 Parganas for their outstanding contribution in the field of Fisheries in wetland, ornamental fish culture & fisheries as well as pond system in Sagariska which devastated by Amfan last year.

  • RBI Approves New Interest Subvention Rates on KCC Crop Loans for FY23, FY24

    The government of India introduced the interest subvention scheme (ISS) to provide short-term crop loans and short-term loans for allied activities, such as animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, bee-keeping, and so on, up to an overall limit of Rs 3 lakh to farmers through KCC at a concessional interest rate for farmers. On Wednesday, November 23, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that the government has approved the interest subvention scheme available through the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) with modifications for the fiscal years 2022-23 and 2023-24.

  • PM Kisan: Govt. to Release 13th Installment Soon; Know How to Register and Update e-KYC

    According to several media reports, the 13th installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will be released in the month of December. However, the government has made no official announcement regarding this. Farmers who haven’t applied for the scheme can also take benefit of this, all they need to do is go to the official website of PM Kisan and register themselves. If they are not able to do it online, they can visit the nearest CSC center and apply for the scheme.

  • Delhi HC Stays Govt’s Order Curbing Glyphosate Use for 3 Months

    The High Court issued its decision after hearing petitions from various crop protection associations. CropLife India and the Agro Chem Federation of India, among others, had petitioned the court against the Centre's notification, claiming that there was no PCO infrastructure in the country and that farmers would face difficulties with weed management, resulting in higher costs. Fearing health risks, the Centre issued a notification last month restricting the use of glyphosate. It stated that only the PCOs should use it. Glyphosate is one of the most commonly used herbicides in the country for weed control.

  • Haryana to Cancel All Cases Against Farmers Except Heinous Crimes, Kisan Unions Call off Highway Blockade

    Haryana home minister Anil Vij announced to drop all the cases against farmers except the 'heinous' crimes, resulting in cancelation of the blockade of Delhi-Ambala Highway by the farmer bodies. This comes after a delegation of farmer unions met the latter in Ambala Cantonment on Wednesday. The delegation of the farmer leaders of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni faction) included union’s president Gurnam Singh Charuni, Ambala unit president Malkit Singh, and spokesperson Rakesh Bains, who visited Vij at his home and brought up the demand to drop the criminal charges filed against farmers during the 2020–21 agitation against the three farm regulations that have been overturned post nationwide protests earlier.

  • Narendra Singh Tomar Addresses ‘Millet Luncheon Summit’ in New Delhi

    High commissioners and ambassadors from over 60 countries appointed to India were treated to a special "Millet Luncheon" by the Ministries of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and External Affairs on Thursday. The vision for a successful IYOM 2023 celebration was expressed by Dr S. Jaishankar, the Minister of External Affairs, and Narendra Singh Tomar, the Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. To highlight the diversity of Indian millets and the variety of millet cuisines, an elaborately designed millet spread was served for lunch at the mega event.
