  • India ready to record bumper harvest as timely rainfall boosts agriculture

    Covid-19 pandemic has badly affected all the sectors, but Indian agriculture sector remains unharmed. This year there has been 95% equal distribution of rainfall all across the country. Along with historic sowing & timely rainfall, the agri experts are expecting bumper crop this year.

    The Agriculture Ministry said that the total Kharif crops have been sown on 1,062.93 lakh hectare area as compared to 979.15 lakh hectare during the same period last year, thus increase in area coverage by 8.56%.

  • Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal to Receive Extremely Heavy Rainfall from August 25

    The India Meteorological Department has now issued a red category warning for Saurashtra, Kutch and Rajasthan for Monday. All these regions are likely to record very heavy rainfall (over 20 cm). On 23rd August 2020, several parts of Gujarat & Rajasthan like Udaipur, Porbander, Kandla have recorded heavy rainfall.

    The weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Odisha from 24 to 26 August with extremely heavy showers in parts of the state on 25 August. Gangetic West Bengal will also receive very heavy rainfall during 25 and 26 August and Jharkhand during 26 and 27 August.

  • Covid-19 Latest updates: Over 3 crore Coronavirus tests conducted so far: Health Ministry

    India’s Coronavirus tests per million increased sharply to 26,016 as cumulative tests surged to 3.59 crore, according to the Health Ministry. The ministry underlined that a key component in India’s Coronavirus response has been early identification of cases by timely as well as aggressive testing. The number of people recovering from Covid-19 has crossed 23 lakh, pushing the recovery rate to more than 75% while the death rate, maintaining a steady downward route, has further dropped to 1.85%.
