Global Oil Demands to Make Comeback & Aims To Hit New Record in 2022
Despite efforts to reduce fossil fuel consumption to prevent climate change, global oil demand surged in 2021 as the world began to recover from the coronavirus pandemic, and overall world consumption could set a new record in 2022. As consumers resumed travel and corporate activity picked up, demand for gasoline and diesel soared this year. According to the International Energy Agency, crude consumption is predicted to reach 99.53 million barrels per day (BPD) in 2022, up from 96.2 million BPD this year. That would fall just shy of the daily consumption of 99.55 million barrels expected in 2019.
