  • Farm Bill 2020: Opposition to boycott Rajya Sabha till ‘three demands’ are met; suspended MPs end sit-in protest

    Amid the hue and cry over farm bill 2020, several Opposition parties led by the Congress staged a walkout from Rajya Sabha demanding Chairman to reinstate the eight members who were suspended due to 'unruly behaviour' during House proceedings. While the Congress was the first to exit the House along with members of the AAP, TMC and Left parties, they were later joined by the NCP, SP, Shiv Sena and RJD.

    However, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu made a fresh appeal to members of all opposition parties to rethink their decision of boycotting the House proceedings.

  • Met Department predicts heavy rainfall for Mumbai and Thane

    Mumbai &Thane are expected to receive heavy rainfall today with the India Meteorological Department issuing a red alert with prediction of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.

    The intensity of the rain will reduce from Wednesday onwards, with the weather department issuing a yellow alert for Mumbai.

    The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday removed language from its website that said the novel coronavirus spreads through airborne transmission, the latest example of the agency backtracking from its own guidance.

    The agency said the guidance, which went up Friday largely without notice until late Sunday, should not have been posted because it was an early draft.
