  • Mother Dairy Increases Milk Prices from Today

This is now the fourth time in 2022 that Mother Dairy, the major milk supplier in Delhi-NCR, has increased milk rates. With volumes of more than 30 million litres per day, the company is among the top milk suppliers in Delhi-NCR. With effect from today, Monday, November 21, Mother Dairy, India's largest milk supplier, has raised the price of full-cream milk by Re 1 per litre and token milk by 2 per litre in the Delhi-NCR market. Now token milk (bulk vended milk) will be sold for Rs 50 per liter as opposed to the current rate of 48 INR.
  • Kisan Andolan: Farmers to Gherao Governor & Hold ‘Mahapanchayat’ in Lucknow on November 26

Alok Verma, state spokesperson for the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), told on Sunday that farmers' unions have decided to gherao governors of all states on the specified date to bolster their demand for the MSP law. "Farmers from across Uttar Pradesh will arrive in Lucknow on tractors on November 26 to geharo the governor and submit a memorandum to her, in addition to holding a mazdoor-kisan mahapanchayat at Eco Garden to press for their demands," he said, adding that around one lakh farmers were expected to participate in the agitation.

  • No Plan to Extend PMGKAY Beyond December: Government

No decision has been made regarding extending PMGKAY after December; this fiscal year, food subsidies would surpass Rs 3 trillion. The government had paid off FCI's loans in FY21 and included all food subsidy spending in the Budget, ending the practice of paying a portion of the subsidy outside of the budget. The current fiscal year's food subsidy expenditures for the government are projected to exceed Rs 3.1 trillion, an increase of 50% from the initial allocation. Due to low-capacity utilization and a generally unreliable economic environment, the majority of the enterprises chose a "wait and watch" strategy during the first half (H1) of this fiscal year.

  • Maharashtra: Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana Threatens Statewide Protest by Cane Farmers on Nov 25

Shetti, who led two-day protests in western Maharashtra earlier this week, accused the ruling BJP-Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena government of turning a blind eye to farmers' plight. The farmer leader stated that the SSS would not back down from its demand that farmers receive a one-time payment of fair price remuneration (FRP). "We will agitate throughout Maharashtra. We will not allow traffic on state or national highways. We will hold protests on the streets and highways, bringing life to a halt," he warned.
