  • Top Ministers, 20,000 Farmers, 150 Startups to Join ‘Krishi-Mahotsav’ at Kota in Rajasthan

    The Department of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare of Govt. of India in association with the Department of Agriculture of Govt. of Rajasthan is organizing a two-day Mahotsav to promote and enhance the agricultural sector and rural development of Kota. The Krishi Mahotsav is going to take place on 24 and 25 January at Dussehra Ground in Kota.

     

  • Tripura, Meghalaya and Manipur Celebrates Statehood Day, PM Modi Shares Greetings on Social Media

    PM Modi conveyed his greetings to the three states of North-East: Tripura, Meghalaya, and Manipur via social media in the 51st year of Statehood of the states. January 21 has been designated as Statehood Day for the three states. Every year on January 21, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura celebrate Statehood Day as on this day these states were granted statehood under the North Eastern Region (Reorganization) Act of 1971. Prior to the statehood of the seven sisters namely Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland, the North Eastern region consisted of Assam plains from the old Assam Province, hill districts, and the North Eastern Frontier Tracts of the North-Eastern borders.

     

     

  • EU Ruling Halts French Sugar Beet Pesticide Exemption

    Following severe crop disease losses in 2020, France granted sugar beet growers a three-year exemption from a general ban on the use of neonicotinoid chemicals. That exemption would have expired after this year's crop. However, the European Union's Court of Justice ruled on Thursday that member states cannot offer exemptions to the bloc's ban on crop seeds treated with neonicotinoids, which are considered a threat to bees. French Agriculture Minister Marc Fesneau tweeted that he was aware of the decision.

    Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the International Millet and Organic Mela-2023 here in Bengaluru on Friday and suggested preparing a scientific outlook report to improve farmers' lives. "In other countries, they prepare an outlook report that predicts rainfall based on rains received in the previous decade," Basavaraj Bommai said after the Mela was inaugurated.
