    UPL, a global provider of sustainable agricultural products, has been awarded Best Patents Portfolio and Best Trademarks Portfolio in the Life Science and Agriculture, Large Enterprises category at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Industrial IP Awards for the fourth consecutive year.

     

  • Vice President, PM, Union Ministers & MPs Attend ‘Millets Lunch’ to Promote Nutri-Cereals

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi and members of Parliament joined millet lunch hosted by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on December 20 to commemorate Millet Year 2023. The Vice President and Prime Minister observed the primary millet crops from all over the nation being displayed in the Courtyard at Parliament, which was exquisitely decorated with rangolis made of millet.

     

  • JAKEDA Conducts Program to Educate Farmers on Running Irrigation Pumps Using Solar Energy

    According to an official press release, the Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development (JAKEDA), Department of Science and Technology held an awareness programme on December 19 to educate farmers about the use of solar energy to power irrigation pumps. The event was presided over by Saurabh Bhagat, Commissioner Secretary, Science and Technology, here in Pulwama. The awareness programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary, Additional Director J&K Science Technology and Innovation Council, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, JAKEDA, Executive Officers, JAKEDA, officers from Horticulture and Agriculture Departments, district administration Pulwama, and JAKEDA officials.

     

     

  • COP 15: India Agrees to 'Historic Biodiversity Deal' to Protect Nature

    The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework's agreement includes 23 targets to protect nature and was adopted at the UN Convention on Biological Diversity's 15th Conference of Parties, which concluded on December 19. Over 190 countries, including India, adopted a landmark agreement Monday to "halt and reverse" the unprecedented decline in biodiversity that has already pushed 1 million species to the brink of extinction.

     

  • “PMFBY No.1 Crop Insurance Scheme Globally”: Narendra Singh Tomar

    According to Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) has become the world's leading crop insurance scheme in terms of farmer applications enrolled. The PMFBY, which was launched in 2016, provides comprehensive risk insurance against crop damage due to unpreventable natural risks from pre-sowing to post-harvest for crops/areas notified by the relevant state government. In terms of farmer applications, the scheme has already surpassed the number one crop insurance scheme in the world.
