IMD Predicts Rainfall & Snowfall till December 25
On 20th December (Monday), the Meteorological Department predicted light to moderate rainfall & snowfall over the Western Himalayan region from 22nd to 25th December. Light rainfall is likely over Punjab on 24th December (Friday). The weather department has also forecasted rainfall along with thunderstorms over Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura & Mizoram from 21st to 24th December.

Agri tech firm AgNext Assess Lakadong Turmeric
Agri tech firm AgNext Technologies, in partnership with the Spices Board of India deployed its innovative curcumin testing technology for the assessment of Lakadong turmeric, which is grown in Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. This is the first time in Meghalaya that the AI-based technology is being used for the rapid quality assessment of Lakadong turmeric.

Delhi NCR: Air Quality Panel Allows Resumption of Construction
On 20th December (Monday), the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) lifted restrictions on the construction & demolition activities in the Delhi-NCR in view of important in the air quality & meteorological forecast. The central air quality panel had allowed the authorities in Delhi-NCR to resume the physical classes for the students in classes 6 & above, colleges and other educational institutions with immediate effect.

Centre Rules Out Hike in MSP of Sugar
Food Secretary Sudhandhu Pandey ruled out the hike in minimum selling price of sugar from the current Rs 31per kg as domestic rates are higher & expressed confidence that exports will touch 50 – 60 lakh tonnes in the current marketing year starting October.

Delhi & Its Adjoining States To Witness Cold Wave, Drizzling This Week
On 20th December (Monday) National Capital recorded a further decline in temperature as the mercury plunged to 3.3 degrees at Jafarpur & 3.6 degrees at Lodhi Road. Delhi & its adjoining states are experiencing cold waves, which took temperature to below 4 degrees Celsius. As a result, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi both for Sunday & Monday. Besides, there is also a possibility of drizzling on 24th & 25th December to RK Jenamani, Director General of Meteorology at IMD.
