  • Mumbai to Receive Extremely Heavy Rainfall this Week: IMD

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said that Aurangabad district in Marathwada has recorded the highest rainfall in Maharashtra in the past 24 hours. It said in the last 24-hour that ended at 8.30 am today, Aurangabad received 86 mm rainfall, Solapur-42 mm, Pune-26 mm, Ahmednagar-23 mm & Hingoli-17 mm. The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Latur, Sangli, Beed & Osmanabad districts from Monday to Wednesday.

  • Uttar Pradesh Minister Kamal Rani Varun Dies due to COVID-19

    Kamal Rani Varun, Uttar Pradesh minister, who had earlier tested Covid-19 positive has died due to the infection in Lucknow early this morning. The minister was 62 years old.

    The government in a statement said Kamal Rani Varun died at 9:30am at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences. Kamal Rani, who served as Minister of Technical Education, is the 1st Minister in UP to die after contracting Covid-19. She was admitted to hospital on 18th July 2020.

  • Farmers in Punjab to Hold Protest March on 9 August

    10 farm organisations of Punjab will take out protest marches to the residences of MLAs as well as MPs of all political parties on 9th August 2020 to demand withdrawal of 3 agricultural ordinances recently passed by the Government and seek debt waiver, MSP for each crop, pricing of fruits, vegetables and milk at 50 percent above the input cost & guarantee of crop purchase at MSP. The protests would be held under the banner of AIKSCC (All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee), an association of over 200 farm organisations from across India, which has decided to observe 9 August as Kisan Mukti Divas.
