  • Cold Wave Alert in Delhi & 7 Other States

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a cold wave for the next two days in Delhi and seven other states. Meanwhile, low daytime temperatures are expected in Madhya Pradesh. While temperatures in the east Indian states are projected to decline in the coming days, mercury is expected to rise a few degrees in Gujarat. If the minimum temperature in the plains falls below 4 degrees Celsius, the IMD announces a cold wave. When the maximum temperature is 10 degrees Celsius and is 4.5 degrees below average, a cold wave is declared.

  • Mustard Seed Sowing Upto 22%

    According to the latest data given by the agricultural ministry, the area seeded under rapeseed/mustard seed crop has increased by 22.46 percent to 88.54 lakh hectares, while wheat crop coverage has remained marginally lower so far in the ongoing 2021-22 Rabi season. Wheat, the main Rabi crop, had been planted on 325.88 lakh hectares as of Friday, compared to 329.11 lakh hectares the previous year, according to the report. Rabi crops, such as wheat, are planted in October and harvested in April. According to the data, the total area under oilseeds expanded dramatically from 80.64 lakh hectares in the previous year to 97.07 lakh hectares on December 31, 2021.

  • Tamil Nadu CM Asks HM Shah To Upgrade IMD’s Technology

    M K Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, urged the Union government on Saturday to upgrade technology and expand the capacity of the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai to ensure timely weather forecasts, claiming that the state's ability to predict a red alert situation' in advance has hampered preparations. In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Stalin cited extensively from India Meteorological Department-Regional Meteorological Centre bulletins from that day, citing the surprise high rainfall in Chennai on December 30. By the time an 'orange alert' was issued at 4.15 p.m. on that day, there had already been significant rain in Chennai and three surrounding districts, resulting in inundation of several areas and complete traffic disruption, he claimed.

     

  • Uttarakhand CM To Distributes Free Mobiles & tablets To Students

    Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will distribute free mobile phones and tablets to 2.75 lakh students in the state on New Year's Day, according to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
