  • Coronavirus India Live Updates: 97 died while travelling on Shramik Special trains

    Ninety-seven people had lost their lives on board the Shramik Special trains while returning home during the nationwide lockdown, the Centre said on Saturday. Responding to a written query by TMC MP Derek O’Brien, Railway Minister Piyush Goywal provided the data in the Upper House. 

    “Based on the data provided by State Police, 97 persons have been reported dead till 09.09.2020 while travelling on board Shramik Special Trains during current Covid-19 situation/crisis,” the minister said.

    Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Monaj Sinha on Saturday announced an economic package worth Rs 1,350 crore for the newly formed Union Territory in a bid to boost the business sector and other sectors. Announcing the package, Sinha said, “We have approved an economic package of Rs 1,350 crore for Jammu and Kashmir. I am glad to announce this for the people in the business community facing economic difficulties. 

  • Rajya Sabha passes The Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Bill

    The Rajya Sabha passed The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill 2020 on the sixth day of the Parliament session. Moving the Bill, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “IBC is such a critical part of business now. On the NPAs of scheduled commercial banks, I just want to highlight how IBC is actually serving the purpose. The priority is to keep companies to be a going concern rather than liquidate them.”
