  • FSSAI Organizes Brainstorming Sessions on Sidelines of Global Millets Conference

    On March 18, the two-day World Millets (Shree Anna) Conference got underway at the NASC Complex in Pusa, New Delhi. During the conference's opening session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally launched a book titled "Shree Anna: A Holistic Overview," which is based on Millets standards developed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). "We are experiencing an agricultural revolution, with the world's most ancient crop becoming the present and future crop," stated G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, Chief Executive Officer, FSSAI, in his welcome address, laying the scene for the two-day conference.

    Amit Shah stated in his talk that the current shape of Junagadh District Cooperative Bank arose after numerous hurdles. He said that farmers doing natural farming would get fair price for their produce. He further stated that since the country's independence, there has been a constant need for a separate Ministry of Cooperation, and to meet this desire, Prime Minister Narendra Modi established the Ministry of Cooperation. According to the Union Minister of Cooperation, PM Modi has taken numerous key measures to advance cooperatives since the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation. He informed that natural farming would be the only option for serving Mother Earth in the next years, since the continued use of DAP and Urea would turn the ground into concrete in the next 25 years.

     

  • Afghanistan Requests UN Assistance to Stockpile Wheat Amid Drought Fears

    According to the Afghan news agency, the chamber of agriculture and livestock has requested assistance from the UN, which will help Afghanistan strengthen its economy. Most importantly, Afghanistan's economy was flipped upside down following the Taliban's takeover of the country in August 2021. Since then, the country has been in the grip of a serious humanitarian catastrophe, with inhabitants living in deplorable conditions. Mirwais Hajizada, Deputy Head of Afghanistan's chamber of agriculture and livestock, stated, "The international community and other countries must support Afghanistan under the current circumstances."

     

  • Tomar Organizes Bilateral Meetings with Ministers of Guyana, Suriname, Zambia, Mauritius & Sri Lanka

    Meanwhile, Tomar commended the ministers for participating in the worldwide conference held by India to promote Shree Anna as part of the International Year of Millets (IYM). According to him, the International Year of Millets is being observed in order for the Indian Shree Anna, its recipes, and value-added products to be recognized globally as a people's movement. He aimed to deepen India's agricultural connections with other countries.Union Minister Tomar, in a meeting with Guyana's Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustafa, recalled the President of Guyana, Dr. Mohammad Irfan Ali, and Vice President Bharat Jagdev's visit to India, and stated that agriculture is an important area of cooperation between the two countries. 

     

  • 5th Poshan Pakhwada Celebrations Begin Tomorrow; Focus on Promotion & Popularization of Shree Anna

    Poshan Abhiyaan, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced on March 8, 2018, has been essential in guaranteeing public engagement and pushing the nutrition debate to the forefront. Poshan Abhiyan was created with the goal of improving nutritional results holistically. Individual and community-level behavioural change is critical to achieving the desired aims of a Kuposhan-mukt Bharat. Poshan Pakhwada is celebrated for 15 days every year in March. Similarly, the month of September is observed across the country as Rashtriya Poshan Maah. So far, the Poshan Maah and Pakhwada celebrations have seen widespread involvement and excitement from all States/UTs, frontline workers, intersecting Ministries, and the general public. At the most recent Poshan Pakhwada 2022, about 2.96 crore activities were held around the country.
