PM to release financial assistance to over 6 lakh beneficiaries in UP under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin on 20th January
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release financial assistance of around Rs. 2691 crores to 6.1 lakh beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) on 20th January, 2021 at 12 noon via video conferencing.
Union Rural Development Minister and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will also be present on the occasion. The assistance would include release of first installment to 5.30 lakh beneficiaries and second installment to 80 thousand beneficiaries who have already availed first installment of assistance under PMAY-G.

Initiative of APEDA –for Connecting Agri-Export through Direct Flights from Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi
A shipment of vegetables having green peas and Ramnagar Bhanta(Round Green Brinjal) was flagged off today to Sharjah by Air India Express.
This consignment was flagged off at Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport, Varanasi. The shipment was flagged-off by Chairman APEDA and senior officials of the Central and State Govt. This consignment contained approx. 1000 KG of cargo including vegetables such as Green Pea, and Ramnagar Bhanta.

NITI Aayog to Launch Second Edition of India Innovation Index 2020
NITI Aayog will release the second edition of the India Innovation Index 2020 on 20 January in a virtual event. The index will be released by NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar in the presence of NITI Aayog Member VK Saraswat and CEO Amitabh Kant.
The release of the second edition of the index—the first was launched in October 2019—demonstrates the Government’s continued commitment towards transforming the country into an innovation-driven economy.

Farmers' issues fail to strike a chord among people
While the farmers' issues remain a burning topic in the political and public sphere for close to two months now, it has remained unpopular in the public discourse of national issues.
The survey revealed that farmers' issues are the least troubling factor among the population living in the southern and eastern part of the country. Merely 0.57 per cent of the respondents chose it as the most important problem facing the nation now.
However, it has struck a chord with the public sentiment in Tamil Nadu since more than 25 per cent of the respondents there chose it as the most important national issue. -
Leaking national secret to journalist is a criminal act: Rahul
Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that leaking sensitive information related to the national secret of a planned attack to a journalist is a "criminal act" and persons behind this should be put in prison.
To a question about the alleged chats discussing the Balakot air strike after the February 14, 2019 Pulwama terror strike on CRPF convoy, Rahul Gandhi said, "Leaking of any sensitive information is a criminal act. This applies to the person who sends it and the person who receives it." -
Delhi students excited to be back in schools
Delhi schools which have been closed for the past 10 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, reopened on Monday and there is great enthusiasm among the students who say they prefer normal classes in school to online classes.
Students say opening of the schools is much better for preparing for board examinations. At the same time, private schools have also asked children to bring their Covid test reports to prove they are not carrying the virus. -
PM condoles death of oncologist Dr Shanta
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed grief over the demise of Dr V Shanta, one of the senior-most Indian oncologists who headed the Adyar Cancer Institute. Shanta died early Tuesday morning in Chennai. She was 93.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said: "Dr V Shanta will be remembered for her outstanding efforts to ensure top quality cancer care in the country. The Cancer Institute at Adyar, Chennai, is at the forefront of serving the poor and downtrodden. I recall my visit to the institute in 2018. Saddened by Dr V Shanta's demise. Om Shanti,"
