  • India Hosts Ministerial Round Table of Leading Millets Countries to Boost Production & Consumption Globally

    India is holding today the first Mega Global Event in the form Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference in Delhi to commemorate 2023 as the International Year of Millets (IYM). Millets Ministerial Round Table was held today in New Delhi following the inaugural session of the Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference. The meeting was attended by ministers from Guyana, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, and Zambia, as well as the Permanent Secretaries of Agriculture from Gambia and Maldives and the Director General of the Nigerian Millets Initiative. The delegates attending the meeting were welcomed by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. 

     

  • Kollam Dist. Panchayat Budget for 2023-24 Focuses on Waste Management & Agriculture

    Waste management and agriculture were given special attention in the Kollam district panchayat budget for 2023-24, which was presented on March 17 by vice president Suma Lal. The Budget projects a 3.61 crore surplus on revenue of 180.10 crore and expenditure of 176.48 crore. Following successful global models, the Budget has set aside 55 crore to promote green practises, including the construction of faecal sludge treatment plants.

     

  • Lack of Restrictions like APMC Enabled Indian Dairy to Reach New Heights Globally: says Ramesh Chand

    According to Ramesh Chand, a member of Niti Aayog, the free milk marketing model has helped India achieve broad-based dairy sector growth. At the 49th Dairy Industry Conference & Expo of the Indian Dairy Association (IDA) in Gandhinagar, Chand stated that cooperatives are responsible for India's global leadership in the dairy space. He emphasized the lack of restrictive milk marketing and trade regulations, which fueled Indian dairy growth.

     

  • Millet is the Solution to Both Personal and Global Health: Says PM Modi at Global Millets Conference

    Global Millets (Shree Anna) Conference, a global event aimed towards increasing the adoption & awareness around Millets, was inaugurated by PM Modi today at Subramanian Hall, NASC Complex, IARI, PUSA Campus, New Delhi. "India's motto is 'One Family, One Future'. We consider the whole world as our family and this thought is reflected in the IYOM 2023 celebration as well. Millets, and all their varieties, have been a huge part of the Indian community for centuries. India introduced the concept of IYOM to the world but this is a cooperative project. We want to learn new methods and technologies used by the countries who joined us in this mission. It is our shared responsibility to create a supply chain that connects our countries," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inaugural session. 

     

     

  • First-Ever Agri Legal Aid Clinic Inaugurated in Telangana Today

    With the support of the Nalsar University of Law, the TS Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) launched the first-ever Agri Legal Aid Clinic today in Telangana in Bammera village in Palakurthy mandal in Nalgonda district today. It aims to educate and create legal awareness among the farmers on several laws and prove beneficial for them as welfare schemes are also planned for their overall upliftment.
