New Agriculture Policy in Punjab by March 31: Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal
The Punjab government has formed an 11-member committee of agriculture specialists to draft a new agricultural policy, claimed the state Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Tuesday. The new agricultural strategy will be completed by March 31, according to Dhaliwal.

Biggest Plantation Drive in India: Adani Group to Plant 100 million Trees by 2030
Adani Group has recently taken a pledge to plant 100 million trees by the year 2030 on 1t.org of the World Economic Forum with the motive of ‘Restoring and Growing, Enabling’ in India. The pledge includes 29.52 million trees which have already been planted by the company and has been pledged to be conserved.

Fertilizer Ministry Requests Additional Rs 30,000 crore Subsidy for Final Quarter
The fertilizer ministry requested an extra Rs 30,000 crore as subsidy allocation for the final quarter of the current fiscal that will be in addition to Rs 2.15 trillion already assigned by the finance ministry for the subsidy on soil nutrients. This will be in addition to the Rs 1.09 trillion additional fertilizer subsidy that was already included in the net expenditure of Rs 3.26 trillion under the initial supplemental grant requests for the current fiscal year that were approved by the Parliament in the winter session.

Govt Plans to Market Organic Farm Products Under One Roof Through Cooperatives
On January 11, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the setting up of a national-level cooperative society for organic products under the Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002, with support from relevant ministries following the principle of 'Whole of the Government Approach'. To capitalize on their comparative advantage, the government believes cooperatives must think globally and act locally.

UN Seeks Cranfield University’s Assistance to Build AI to Track Afghanistan’s Opium Production
Under the research programme, the researchers will use AI to interpret satellite imagery, which will assist them in determining where crops are being used for drug production in Afghanistan. According to Daniel Simms, a lecturer at Cranfield University, the partnership between the University and the UN will last until July 2023.
