  • Karnal Wheat Institute Distributes Seeds to Punjab Farmers Booked on Seed Portal

    Approximately 2,500 farmers from various districts in Punjab arrived at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley (IIWBR) to pick up the biofortified wheat varieties they had reserved through an online portal. Wheat varieties DBW-327, DBW-303, and DBW-332 were preferred by farmers. Aside from these, the farmers preferred DBW-187 and DBW-222.

    BIPA, a 19-year-old Hyderabad-based trade body of BioAgri Input Producers in India, is hosting the 2nd Edition of BioAgri 2022 International Conference in the city on October 19 and 20 at Hotel Park Hyatt, Banjara Hills. It is the largest Bio Agri Solutions Conference and Exhibition in the world. In a press note issued in Hyderabad, Dr. Venkatesh Devnur, General Secretary, BIPA (BioAgri Inputs Producers Association) said the theme of the two-day meet will be “India: Global Gateway for BioAg solutions”.

    During 'PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022 and Agri Startup Conclave' in Delhi, Modi released an amount of Rs. 16,000 crores for crores of farmers under its flagship scheme - PM Kisan Yojana. Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare who was also present at the event tweeted that over Rs. 16,000 crores have been transferred to over 8 crore small and marginal farmers across India.

    Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy today will click a button from Allagadda in the Nandyal district to instantly credit the second tranche of assistance into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Out of the total financial assistance of Rs. 13,500 that would be given to each farmer, the first installment of Rs. 7,500 was already made in May this year. Beneficiaries would receive Rs 4,000 per head in the second payment for the Kharif harvest and the Rabi sowing.

The Prime Minister told the media that 22 crore soil health cards have been distributed so far and scientific efforts are on for providing the best quality seeds.
