  • Cabinet approves Interest subvention of 1.5% per annum on Short Term Agricultural Loan

    The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has agreed to reinstate the 1.5% interest subsidy on short-term agricultural loans for all financial institutions. Thus, for the fiscal years 2022-23 to 2024-25, lending institutions (public sector banks, private sector banks, small finance banks, regional rural banks, cooperative banks, and computerised PACS directly ceded with commercial banks) will receive an interest subsidy of 1.5% for lending short term agri-loans up to Rs 3 lakh to farmers.

    Aiming to reduce dependency on imports and safeguard itself from interruptions to global supply chains, the UAE is adopting vertical hydroponics method to produce food for local livestock. Abu Dhabi-based start-up World of Farming is all set to begin on-site operations at local farms later this year.

  • PM Kisan Yojana: Big Updates on e-KYC Deadline and 12th Installment

    The government has once again extended the deadline for completing e-KYC under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Now farmers can complete the e-KYC till 31 August 2022. It must be noted that farmers who do not follow the guidelines will not be given the upcoming installment of Rs. 2000 under the scheme. Hence this is the last chance for farmers who haven’t completed the PM Kisan e-KYC.

  • Maharashtra Govt. Announces Financial Help for Farmers Affected Due to Floods and Heavy rainfall

    On Tuesday Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Sindhe announced a Rs.13,600 per hectare financial help for farmers affected due to the recent floods and heavy rainfall in the State. Shinde said that "Deputy chief minister (Devendra Fadnavis) and I personally went to Gadchiroli to see the farmers and support them." He said that the weather was so bad that they chose to travel by road when the helicopter's pilot refused to fly it there.

  • ICAR-IIMR Sets up Millet-Processing Unit for Farmers, FPOs

    The ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), Hyderabad is helping in the promotion of millets through Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and doubling farmers' income taking into consideration the International Year of Millets- 2023. IIMR is acting as a Cluster Based Business Organization (CBBO) for the promotion as well as handholding of 33 Millets Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in 4 states i.e., Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana to implement its “Millets FPO Model”.
