  • Heavy Rainfall Likely over Several Parts of Tamil Nadu on Saturday: IMD

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvannamalai, Salem, Tirupattur and Dharmapuri districts of Tamil Nadu on Saturday (17th October 2020).  It said that a low-pressure area is expected to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal and neighboring Andaman Sea on 19th October and will become more marked in the subsequent 24 hours over the central Bay of Bengal. Later it will move in the west-northwest direction towards Andhra coast.

  • New Farm Bill to Increase Farmers' Income: PM Modi

    Prime Minister Modi today asserted that the new farm bill will increase farmers' income and claimed that the government is committed towards procurement of agriculture crops at minimum support price or MSP. Prime Minister was speaking at the 75th anniversary of the United Nations' Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO). Modi also released a commemorative coin of Rs 75 denomination.

  • FICCI and JKEDI organize webinar to promote Dairy Farming Sector in J&K

    Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute also known as JKEDI together with the  Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) had organized a webinar with the aim to promote dairy farming sector in the Union territory.  The webinar was presided over by the Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Mr. K.K. Sharma. Many young entrepreneurs attended the seminar, both physically & virtually.

  • FM Sitharaman promised Rs 2.16 lakh crore unconditionally to states, End to GST impasse 

    Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has written to states assuring them funds of around Rs 2.16 lakh crore would be unconditionally made available to states within this year to tide over the resource crunch. This comes a day after the Centre stepped in to resolve the GST compensation impasse. 

  • India likely to get COVID-19 vaccine by March 2021: Serum Institute of India 

    Dr Suresh Jadav, Executive Director, Serum Institute of India, Pvt Ltd., Pune, said “India may get COVID-19 vaccine by March 2021 provided the regulators signal with the processes fast as multiple manufacturers are working on it. India is heading fast towards vaccine development as two manufacturers are already in phase-3 trial and one in the phase-2 trial, while more players are joining the race. Usually, vaccine development takes 8-10 years, but this is the third time we are able to produce this one in a short time. The WHO has also taken initiative to make the process fast and easy. ”  

     

  • Wildlife Photographer Year 2020 awards: Aishwarya Sridhar becomes first Indian woman to win  

    Aishwarya Sridhar's photo titled as 'Lights of Passion' has won the 'Highly Commended' award at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2020. The 23-year-old women has become the first Indian to win the coveted award.
