  • Haryana's Cong leader booked for cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh 

    A case of cow slaughter has been filed against former Haryana minister and Congress leader Nirmal Singh in Saharanpur district, police said. Singh is accused of shooting three cows at a farmhouse, which led to the death of one of them. The complaint was filed against Singh at the Behat Kotwali police station. The incident took place three days ago, after which several Hindu organisations hit the streets to protest against the Congress leader. 

  • National Press Day 2020: Modi Govt. committed to freedom of Press says, Amit Shah

    Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday greeted the media fraternity on the National Press Day, asserting that the Narendra Modi government believed in the freedom of Press and opposed attempts to "throttle" it.  

    Extending his greetings, Shah tweeted: "Our media fraternity is working tirelessly towards strengthening the foundations of our great nation. The Modi government is committed to the freedom of Press and strongly opposes those who throttle it."

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that India has always shown the path of peace, humanity, non-violence and fraternity to the whole world, which is now again looking towards our country for this guidance. 

    "India has always shown the whole world the path of peace, non-violence and fraternity. These are the messages for which the world gets inspiration from India. For this guide, the world is once again looking towards India," Modi said in his speech on the 151st birth anniversary of Jain Acharya Vijay Vallabh Surishwar. On the occasion, the Prime Minister also unveiled the 151-inch 'Statue of Peace' of Acharya Vallabh via videoconference. 

  • Bihar Elections 2020 Updates: Nitish, 13 Ministers to take oath on Nov 16 

    Apart from Nitish Kumar who will take oath as the Bihar Chief Minister, 13 Ministers from NDA parties will be sworn in by Governor Phagu Chauhan today. 

    Apart from Nitish Kumar, Tarkishore Prasad (Deputy CM), Ashok Chaudhary, Vijay Chaudhary, Mewa LalChaudhary, Bijendra Yadav, Renu Devi, Mangal Pandey, Prem Kumar, Samrat Chaudhary, Nitish Mishra, Nandkishore Yadav, VIP President Mukesh Sahani, and Hindustani Awam Morcha president Jitan Ram Manjhi's son Santosh Kumar Sharan are to be sworn in at a ceremony scheduled at 4.30 pm at the Governor's House. 

  • COVID-19 Updates: No plans for another lockdown in Delhi owing to Coronavirus says, Satyendar Jain 

    The Delhi government has clarified that it has no plans to implement another lockdown in the national Capital in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Delhi Health Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain on Monday said, "There will be no lockdown imposed in Delhi again. I don't think there is any need to enforce another phase of lockdown here."  

  • Two held for GST credit fraud of Rs 35.72 crore in Tamil Nadu  

    Two persons were arrested on the charge of committing Goods and Services Tax (GST) credit fraud of Rs 35.72 crore, Principal Commissioner for GST and Central Excise (Chennai Outer) said on Monday. In a statement issued here, Principal Commissioner G Ravindranath said that the GST and Central Excise Department had arrested the two persons, both aged around 32, from Pernambut in Vellore district. 

  • Any attack on press freedom is detrimental to national interests says Vice President 

    The Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu today said that any attack on the freedom of the press is detrimental to national interests and should be opposed by one and all. In a pre-recorded video message at a webinar on ‘Role of media during the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on media’ organized by the Press Council of India on the occasion of the National Press Day, the Vice President said: “Democracy cannot survive without a free and fearless press”.
