PM Comes to Lumbini Shortly to Lay the Foundation Stone for the Buddhist Centre
Upon landing in Lumbini, Nepal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted by Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, he will thereafter take part in an event to lay the foundation stone for the India International Centre for Buddhist Culture & Heritage.

Severe Heatwave Engulfs Delhi; Temperature Reaches 49.2°C
On Sunday, fire showered down on Delhi. As the region's heatwave intensified, temperatures at two meteorological stations in the city reached 49 degrees Celsius, presumably the highest ever recorded at any India Meteorological Department site in the city. Mungeshpur in northwest Delhi recorded a blistering 49.2°C, nine degrees above average, while Najafgarh recorded 49.1°C.

The Centre Has Extended the Purchase deadline after the Wheat Export Ban
After imposing an export restriction, the Centre today requested wheat-producing states whose procurement deadlines are approaching to extend their purchases until May 31. The Ministry of Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs have also requested that the FCI continue to purchase wheat through the central pool. Farmers would gain from the prolonged period, according to the report.

On Monday, May 16, petrol and diesel prices remained steady for the 40th day in a row. The most recent increase in fuel and diesel prices was on April 6, bringing the total increase to Rs 10 per liter. According to a price announcement from state fuel dealers, petrol will now cost Rs 105.41 per liter in Delhi, up from Rs 104.61 earlier, and diesel will cost Rs 96.67 per liter, up from Rs 95.87 previously.

The price of aviation turbine fuel in India (ATF prices) has risen to a new high after being raised by 5% in New Delhi. According to Mint, the ATF price in the national capital is currently Rs 1,23,039 per kilogram or Rs 123.03 per liter. Jet fuel prices have risen every two weeks since the beginning of 2022. ATF costs have increased by more than 50% since January 1, 2022.
