    On May 12, the 8th meeting of Agriculture Ministers from member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) was held via video conferencing, with Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar serving as the chairman. The meeting was attended by representatives from India, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, China, and Pakistan.

    NAMO app is a mobile application launched in 2015 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The app provides users with access to various features such as reading the latest news, watching videos, giving feedback, participating in digital initiatives, and communicating directly with Narendra Modi through a forum called "MyGov."

Speaking at the 5th convocation of Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University in West Godavari district, Chand emphasized the importance of promoting natural farming among scientists and students.

  • AAU Delegation Expands its Knowledge at ISARC Through Exposure Visit

    A group of senior scientists and extension personnel from Assam Agricultural University (AAU) visited IRRI-SARC in Varanasi from May 11 to 13, 2023 to enhance learning opportunities and strengthen existing linkages related to interventions of the ongoing Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) in Assam. The AAU delegation engaged with ISARC scientists on the latest trends in precision agriculture, mechanization, GIS, postharvest management, and seed systems. The team from AAU included HoDs of various departments, senior scientists, principal scientists, and heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Assam.

  • Indian Wheat Production Likely to Exceed Initial Estimates This Year, Government Predicts

    India's wheat output would surpass the government's forecast of a record 112.18 million tonnes in the 2022–23 crop year (July–June) due to a predicted increase in crop yields in important growing states, despite unfavorable weather impacting wheat quality in some areas. The crop year 2020–21 produced 109.59 million tonnes of wheat, which was the previous record. For the crop year 2022–2023, the government forecasted wheat production at 112.18 million tonnes in its second estimate, which was released in February.
