  • Farmers in West Bengal to get advance pension ahead of Durga Puja

    The Central and state governments have come up with relief packages for farmers in West Bengal who suffered huge losses during the Covid-19-induced lockdown. There is a good news for elderly farmers as well as fishermen in West Bengal before Durga Puja. The state government has announced 2 months of advance pension during the festive season of Durga Puja in October which is a total of Rs. 2,000 for each farmer & fisherman. The advance pension would be given for October & November.

  • Eight earthquakes within four hours in Maharashtra Reported 

    A total of 8 low-intensity earthquakes in the range of 2.2 to 3.6 magnitudes were experienced in Maharashtra’s Palghar district within four hours early on today (11 September 2020) Friday. According to officials, tremors were reported in Palghar district’s Dahanu and Talasari tehsils. 

  • 102-carat diamond, about the size of an egg likely to fetch $30 million 

    Interestingly, one of the world's rarest diamonds will be up for auction next month at Sotheby's. The diamond which is about the size of an egg or a large lollipop is likely to fetch $12 million or $30 million. Sotheby's mentioned that the 102.39-carat diamond is the second-largest oval diamond of its kind to be offered at auction. In 2013, the largest, a 118.28-carat diamond was sold at a record price of $30.8 million. 

  • India Coronavirus News: Death Toll Rises to over 44 Lakh; 1,172 deaths in last 24 hours

    India’s Covid tally rose to over 44 Lakhs as the country registered 95,735 cases, inching closer to the grim reality of recording one lakh fresh cases in a day. Over 1,172 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.

    On the other hand, Maharashtra all set to hit one million mark. Adding more than 20,000 new coronavirus cases a day for the last few days, Maharashtra is all set to hit the one million mark on Friday.

  • India-China border Update: Jaishankar, Wang reach 5-point consensus to de-escalate situation along LAC

    Amid the India-China  border tension, S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, both side reached five-point agreement to disengage and de-escalate the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC)  after two-and-half hours of bilateral talks. Both ministers had a “frank and constructive” discussion on the developments in the India- China border areas, as well as on India-China relations.
