  • Rice Farmers Likely to Harvest Record Crop & Increase Overseas Sales after Vigorous Monsoon

    Farmers in the country have planted 12 million hectares with summer-sown rice, according to the preliminary farm ministry data for this year. The figure is 25% up from last year as vigorous monsoon rains encouraged the expansion of acreage. Lifted by the abundant rains, rice farmers are likely to harvest a record crop and increase overseas sales from the world's biggest exporter of the grain.

  • Mizoram Government Launches Mobile App for Farmers

    Government of Mizoram has launched a new mobile app for farmers to provide them the latest agriculture related information, according to an official. C Lalrinsanga, Agriculture Minister who launched the mobile app said that the state government has been making all efforts to reduce the difficulties faced by farmers, who have been greatly affected by Covid-19 induced lockdown.

    The minister expressed hope that the new mobile application will be very helpful to the farmers. He said that the ''farmers helpline'' that was launched in April, has also greatly benefitted the cultivators.

  • Covid-19 Live Updates:  Cases in U.P Increase Marginally as State Observes Second Day of Lockdown

    Uttar Pradesh has reported 1,403 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of positive Coronavirus cases to 35,103. This includes 11,490 active cases of Covid-19. In addition, a total of 22,689 patients have recovered in U.P and 913 others have died because of the disease till date, informed state principal health secretary, Amit Mohan Prasad.

  • NIOS Cancels Class 10th and 12th March-April Examination

    National Institute of Open Schooling or NIOS has cancelled class 10th & 12th March-April exam all together. The exams were earlier postponed for July-August but now the examination has been cancelled fully due to the COVID-19 situation.

    In a notification NIOS said that students will be assessed based on their pass performance, which has been done in accordance with the Result Committee’s recommendations. Students will have an option either to appear for the next scheduled examination or on-demand exam to improve their marks.
