ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle Celebrated 35th Foundation Day
The ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cattle, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh celebrated its 35th Foundation Day last week. The Chief Guest, Dr. A.K. Misra, Chairman of Agricultural Scientists’ Recruitment Board stressed on enhancing the Institution’s visibility to improve the cattle productivity in India. He considered the Genomic Selection, Assisted Reproductive Technologies, value-addition of dairy farm products as the big advancements that are to be exploited for increasing the cattle’s productivity.

Over 11 Lakh Farmers Benefitted Through Paddy Procurement in 2021-22
The Department of Food and Public Distribution has procured over 209.52 LMT of Paddy in KMS 2021-22 till 8 Nov 2021 in the procuring States or UTs of Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Moreover 11.57 Lakh farmers have been benefitted with MSP value of Rs. 41,066.80 crore.

18,000 Rural Women to be Trained on Solid Waste Management & Solar Energy Utilization in Karnataka
Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development (MGIRED), together with National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Department of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj and Department of Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation, is training 18,000 rural women from Karnataka's SHGs in various aspects like solid waste management and solar energy utilization. Further they will be engaged as SwachhaKarmikas by the local Gram Panchayats to do solid waste management duties.
