  • Delhi government to provide free chemical to farmers to tackle stubble burning

    In order to control farm fires, main reason behind Delhi’s deteriorating air quality every winter, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 30th September 2020 said that the state government will start the process of making a fermented liquid solution to be sprayed on 800 hectares of land in the National Capital where stubble burning is practised by farmers.

    He said the solution will help farmers in converting the stubble into manure which is a cheap as well as safe alternative to burning. Kejriwal further told all arrangements for spraying the solution on fields would be made by Delhi government and given free of cost to the farmers.

  • Farm bills 2020: Farmers block railway tracks for indefinite period in Punjab

    Farmers in Punjab today (1st October 2020) blocked railway tracks at several places in the state for an indefinite period as part of their 'rail roko’ protest. Also, farmers said they have staged dharnas outside houses of some BJP leaders. In all, 31 farmers’ bodies had joined hands to strengthen the agitation and had announced to block the railway tracks from 1 October for an indefinite period.

  • Unlock 5.0 guidelines: Rules for cinema halls, social gathering, inter-state movement issued 

    The ministry of home affairs on Wednesday announced Unlock 5.0 guidelines which would come into effect from October 1 (Today). Some activities have been permitted from October 15 in areas outside Containment zones. The home ministry has allowed cinemas, theatres and multiplexes to open with up to 50 per cent of their seating capacity. However, the standard operating procedure (SOP) will be issued by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. 

     

  • Television sets to get costlier as customs duty on open-cell panels re-imposed 

    Buying a television set will soon become costlier due to the 5% customs duty on open-cell panels which has been re-imposed from October 1, 2020. In a notification, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said that the zero customs duty for open-cell panels, valid between September 2019 and 2020 had come to an end on 30th September.
