  • India to Ship 20,000 MT of Wheat to Afghanistan via Chabahar

    The MEA announced on March 7 that India will send its next consignment of wheat to Afghanistan under the Taliban regime via Chabahar. The decision was announced at the first meeting of the India-Central Asia Joint Working Group (JWG) on Afghanistan in Delhi, following the expiration of an agreement with Pakistan to extend the time for sending wheat via land route, and talks to extend the time have failed.

     

  • Maharashtra To See 10.2% Growth In Agriculture Sector

    According to the Maharashtra Economic Survey 2022–23, the agriculture and related industry, which supports the state's rural economy and employs 55% of the population, will expand by 10.2% in the current fiscal year. The strong monsoon and lack of drought for the previous three years are credited with the predicted rise. In 2022, the state saw monsoon rain at a rate of 119.8%. There were 355 talukas in all; of those, 204 had excessive rainfall, 145 had moderate rains, and only six had insufficient rainfall (excluding those in Mumbai city and Mumbai suburban districts).

  • ISRO Receives NISAR Satellite Developed Jointly by India & United States

    On Wednesday, a US Air Force C-17 aircraft landed in Bengaluru and handed over the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) NISAR to the Indian space agency, marking a watershed moment in US-India space collaboration. NISAR was conceived of by NASA and ISRO eight years ago in 2014 as a powerful demonstration of radar's capability as a science tool that would allow us to study Earth's dynamic land and ice surfaces in greater detail than ever before. It is scheduled to launch into a near-polar orbit from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in January 2024. The satellite will be operational for at least three years. It is a LEO (Low Earth Orbit) observatory. In 12 days, NISAR will map the entire globe.

    The grain market of Punjab in the Dhuri, the constituency which is under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, witnessed a mahapanchayat in which farmers from Malerkotla, Sangrur and Barnala districts participated. The mahapanchayat was attended by people from nearly 60 villages, which was organized by Kirti Kisan Union and supported by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM).
