  • Farmers to Benefit from 9% Interest on Delayed Procurement Payments, Says Dushyant

    Haryana's deputy chief minister, Dushyant Chautala, stated that 408 grain markets have been established in the state for the procurement of wheat, 102 for mustard, 11 for pulses and 25 for barley. Dushyant Chautala, Haryana's deputy chief minister, announced on April 8 that the state government will pay farmers 9% interest if payments for foodgrain purchase are delayed.

     

  • Farmers & Dairy Owners Concerned Over Potential Hike in Fodder Prices

    Marginal farmers as well as labourers comprise a sizeable portion of the rural population across regions of the state. Farmers and dairy owners are concerned about a potential rise in the prices of ‘toori’ (cattle fodder) due to shortages caused by the lumpy skin disease outbreak among cattle last year and widespread damage to wheat crops this year.

     

  • Punjab Govt Sets up Helpline for Farmers to Register Aid Complaints

    Punjab Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Saturday launched a helpline number and asked farmers to register complaints on it if they find any unfair practice. The state government of Punjab is facing a challenge in completing the special girdawari, which is the assessment of losses, in time to provide compensation to farmers on the occasion of Baisakhi.

     

  • Kashi to Discuss Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems With G-20 Experts

    The PIB released the agenda of the ACS meet as per which senior-level officials, policymakers, scientists, and experts of the G-20 member states and invited countries and international organizations will participate in this event. The first of five G-20 meetings scheduled in Varanasi from April 17 is a three-day gathering of Agricultural Chief Scientists (ACS).

     

  • J&K Addl Chief Secy Emphasizes Role of FPOs in Driving Agricultural Sector Growth

    On April 8, Jammu & Kashmir Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production Department Atal Dulloo met with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) from the Jammu division at Kissan Kendra in Tala Tiloo. The interactive programme was attended by the Director Agriculture Jammu, Director Horticulture Jammu, distinguished academics and scholars from SKUAST-J, other top officers of APD, representatives of FPOs, and CBBOs.
