Rubber Research Institute of India to Conduct GM Rubber Field Trials in Guwahati
The Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII) will conduct confined field trials of newly developed genetically modified (GM) rubber plants at its Guwahati regional research station's Sarutari Farm, according to its director Jessy MD. "The trials will be conducted on one acre of farmland in accordance with the Biotechnology Department's standard operating procedures. The stress-tolerance traits, disease incidence, and yield will be evaluated for 15 years before commercialization," she said.

No PM Kisan Financial Assistance to Farmers Involved in Stubble Burning
As a result, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR had reached very severe category last week, forcing administration to close schools. To control stubble burning that is the main cause of rising air pollution, the Central as well as state government have implemented many plans and strategies. In this regard, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has also made an important decision. According to a statement released by Uttar Pradesh government, farmers who are found burning crop residues will not be given the financial assistance of Rs. 6000 per year under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. The statement said the funding will be stopped for those already registered under PM Kisan scheme.

Microsoft Launches Agri-Tech Project in Baramati
The global tech firm Microsoft’s research wing has launched an ambitious project called Microsoft Farmvibes.ai, in association with the Artificial Technology and Climate Change, Oxford University, Atal incubation center, the Agricultural Development Trust, and a team led by course director Ajit Jaokar in Baramati on Monday. The center of excellence, being developed in Maharashtra, will focus on sustainable and low-cost agricultural practices with the help of precise scientific techniques and data-driven production.

Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB Plc), a subsidiary of Heineken International, has signed another green energy agreement with CrossBoundary Energy, a developer, owner, and operator of distributed renewable energy solutions for businesses across Africa, to deliver clean energy to its two facilities, Ibandan and Ama. CrossBoundary Energy will upgrade the current renewable energy system at NB's Ibadan Brewery from a 663 kWp solar PV plant to a hybrid solar-plus-storage facility consisting of a 3 MWp solar PV system and a 2 MW/2 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

Zimbabwe launched its first nano-satellite into space on Monday in an effort to collect data to monitor disasters, boost agriculture, and improve mineral mapping.
As part of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) multi-nation project, a rocket carrying the tiny satellite, dubbed ZIMSAT-1, successfully launched from Virginia in the United States alongside Uganda's first satellite.
