  • District-Level Agricultural Laboratories to Boost Export Standards

    According to a senior official from the directorate of industries, the laboratories will certify agricultural produce in accordance with the requirements set by the nations to whom the exports are destined. The directorate of industries has offered to set up district-level laboratories for the certification of agricultural yield to encourage exports from the districts.

  • UN Announces USD 83.16 Mn Mobilization to Boost Nigeria's Agri Sector

    To support the development of Nigeria's agriculture sector from 2023 to 2027, the United Nations plans to collaborate with the federal and state governments, as well as multilateral and unilateral donors to raise USD 83.16m (equivalent to N38.3bn at the official exchange rate of N461/USD). The Food and Agriculture Organization, a branch of the UN, has already secured approximately USD 16.36m (equivalent to N7.54bn) for the project, as stated in the FAO Nigeria Country Programming Framework 2023-2027, which was obtained on Friday from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Abuja.

  • TNAU's Innovative Solution: Capsule to Combat Whitefly Pest Infestation on Coconut Crops

    An Integrated Pest Management capsule has been developed by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University located in Coimbatore, aimed at safeguarding coconut crops from the Rugose Spiralling Whitefly, which has become prevalent. Whitefly is a common pest that can cause significant damage to coconut crops. These small, winged insects feed on the sap of coconut leaves, causing yellowing, wilting, and stunted growth.
